It is the opening line of A Tale of Two Cities that is often quoted. But to me, the closing line of the novel is the one that has always struck me. It’s so eloquently beautiful coming from Sydney Carton’s lips. It gets me every time.

Ah, when you finish the book and then read this quote, it really hits you in the feels. Sydney Carton deserved better.

I love that quote. When I first read A Tale of Two Cities back in high school I wasn’t really getting why it was so popular until that and then it all clicked at once π
